BeOS with WirelessManager

PDFPrintEmail

1. Create an access point entry for the Hautspot network.

Open WirelessManager and select Add access point. Select your driver (currently only hfa384x). In the Access Point panel, enter a descriptive name for this hotspot. Select BSS mode, and start with channel 1 (or ask an attendant if the channel information is available). Enter the SSID of the network (ask an attendant if unsure). Do not enable Privacy. Apply the changes to create the access point entry.

2. Select the access point entry.

In the WirelessManager main panel, select the new access point entry you created above, and click Use.

3. Open your web browser.

Open a browser window. If you normally have a blank window (i.e., no homepage or other initial remote page), select any website. You will automatically be directed to the Hautspot portal. (N.B.: If you cannot connect, then the channel may need to be adjusted for the access point entry in WirelessManager. open WirelessManager, select the entry, and click Edit. increment the channel by 1, apply your change, and repeat steps 2 and 3. You may need to repeat this operation several times in order to find the correct channel setting.)

4. Log in.

If you already have a Hautspot (or partner network) account, simply enter your username and password and click Login. If not, click the sign up button on the portal page (if available) and complete the necessary fields to create an account, and click Request Account, purchase a plan from the available button, or request a pre-authorized code from the venue. Remember that by logging into a Hautspot network, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to our terms of acceptable use (viewable from the portal page).

5. Play!

Once you have completed the login process, feel free to browse the web, download files, transfer email...whatever you like. For secure transactions, however, you should consider using a VPN connection to your office.

6. Log off.

First disconnect any VPN connections you may have established. Next, simply close any other internet-connected applications you may have open, including your web browser. Goodbye!
